Should you use fake or real flowers for your wedding?

Let’s talk about your wedding flowers. Will they be faux – that’s a fancy way of saying fake, or will they be real?

I recently had a venue walk through with one of my clients and we came up with this wonderful idea of spraying petals on the floor. Yep, all over! It’s a lawn wedding and a small space too, so it would look just pretty. (Note to self, tag this post when you share pictures from the wedding).

Anyways, we would not have been able to design such a beauty if we were using faux flowers for her floral decor. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against fake flowers. My aim is to draw your attention to some points you may want to bear in mind as you decide on your decorations.

Here are a few points to consider:

a. What does your venue permit? Some venues allow only real flowers, because the faux/fake ones are not biodegradable and would harm their property, as in the case of outdoor wedding spaces.

b. How much money you have to spend. Hopefully you know to create a wedding budget to guide you as you start to incur expenses towards your big day. If what you’ve allocated to floral decor is large enough to accommodate the cost of real flowers, then go for it. Else, embark on a hunt for high quality faux flowers that fit your budget and achieve the vision you have in mind.

events…it just feels like an unnecessary waste. If you are going the route of fresh flora, you will need to have the discussion with your spouse. Next, talk with your decorator so you can consider the plethora of options of what to do with the flowers. (Check out https://randomactsofflowers.org , to see if they service your area.)

c. What will you do with the flowers afterward? I have a hard time trashing flowers after events…it just feels like an unnecessary waste. d. What’s your preference? You may have all the money in the world, and the freedom to use what you want, and still not want to use real flora. I’m trying to think of a reason…allergies? You get the gist. The decision about what type of floral decor you’ll be using depends on what you like also.
